At the end of March, Myanmar was hit by a powerful earthquake that caused widespread destruction and suffering. No One Left Out’s local mission workers have been present on the ground, helping those impacted by the disaster. Below is a brief update from the foundation’s Field Leader for Southeast Asia, who travelled into Myanmar shortly after the earthquake and has witnessed the heartbreaking scenes and the ongoing relief efforts firsthand.

Destruction and immediate needs

“The earthquake has left thousands of people without homes. In one new area we recently entered, around 400 houses caught fire, and families—including many small children—are now surviving under plastic tarpaulins along the roadside,” he explains.

“Entire homes were swallowed by the ground, and fires broke out, forcing people to flee for their lives. Many are still shaking from fear and shock.
